Abstract:

New therapeutic modalities such as cell and gene therapies have made remarkable progress, but significant challenges lie ahead to bring more of these impactful medicines into the clinic. Companies engaged in biologics R&D must increasingly produce larger sets of analytical verification of their products to confirm safety and efficacy, as well as to satisfy expanding regulatory expectations. Data management now plays a central role in the ability to capture, assess, and consolidate analytical results that support key milestones and IND filings.

In this webinar, we’ll speak with Darren Begley, Ph.D., who is Principal Scientist, Analytical Development for the Gene Therapy franchise at Resilience, an innovative biotechnology company working to improve the way complex medicines are made. Darren has extensive experience in the biophysical characterization of gene therapy delivery vectors. You’ll hear Darren’s perspective on topics ranging from the fast-evolving approaches to analytical technologies, changing regulatory guidance for advanced biologics, and the pressing need for structured, organized R&D informatics platforms.

This session is sponsored by Benchling, pioneers of the R&D Cloud in use by over 1000+ innovative biotechnology companies across the world. A live Q&A session will follow the discussion, offering you a chance to pose questions to Darren.

Bringing Innovative Analytical Science and Informatics Together to Power Modern Biologics Development

Speakers:

Darren Begley, Principal Scientist, United States

Bio: Darren Begley is a Principal Scientist on the Analytical Development team for Resilience’s Gene Therapy Franchise. Darren is helping build a state-of-the-art biophysical characterization platform for gene therapy delivery vehicles, with a focus on adeno-associated virus (AAV) particles. Over the past five years, Darren has been investigating and characterizing a variety of biologic macromolecular species for therapeutic applications, including AAV, virus-like particles (VLPs), and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). He received a Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University (Joint Honours, Chemistry and English Literature), and a PhD from the University of Washington in Seattle, focusing on structural biology methods such as X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance to study protein-ligand interactions.

BioMichael Schwartz is a product and solution marketer at the intersection of life sciences and cloud technology. He currently leads solutions marketing at Benchling, bringing the R&D Cloud to global biotechnology innovators across the world. Formerly, he was at Salesforce as Senior Director focused on life sciences strategy and GTM execution. Early career was in medical and bioanalytical technology, including co-founding of Fluxion Biosciences and early employee at Advanced Stent Technologies (acq: BSX).
